My name is Charlotte Sofokleous. I am a British national, a mother and a Montessori teacher.

After trying to learn Greek when moving to Cyprus I had a wealth of experiences with private Greek lessons and within the university sector. I suddenly became aware of the unfortunate process that many adults and children were facing. Learning a second language was proving to be a disappointment and I found this to be a commonality for many others who I came to meet. This consequently was setting those I speak of up for failure. Why? With book-led and lecture techniques it only promoted boredom, difficulties in completing tasks and a general lack of interest in learning the language.

I suddenly found myself being approached by parents within the nursery I was working at the time asking if I would provide private English lessons.  From hearing many shocking stories, I decided that I had to try to devise a programme combing the wonderful aspects, materials and ethos of the Montessori method and make them available to all children.   And here we have it... My English Montessori Experience.  MEME is  providing both parents and preschools a Montessori inspired programme that is delivered in English. This programme has been created with an emphasis of working through play where specialised coordinators will provide the children with a wealth of experiences. The children will not only have the opportunity to acquire and develop English language and literacy skills, they may also build upon all fundamental skills such as within their social emotional, physical and intellectual development.
